Beat the crowds. Duck Island is off the beach in Noumea and after looking at it for a few days decided to visit. 2400 francs to get there (5 minute boat ride) and that's about it. Everything is extra; sun lounger, umbrella everything. And very expensive.

It's also cheaper too. The boat to the island operates return services most Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays, departing from Noumea at 7am leaving Isle of Pines at 5pm. Review of Ile aux Canards island. Reviewed March 16, 2020 via mobile. Duck island- great snorkelling very close to shore. Huge variety of fish and turtles. Colourful coral well preserved. Taxi boats very busy have to wait ages to get on on a Sunday. Small island can walk around it in 10 minutes.
